In a time of a global pandemic wherein, the fashion industry is forced to survive on creativity, Louis Vuitton remains to be the legendary house that adapts to the times but continues to break through barriers. To host a fashion show now in a middle of a pandemic where most have opted to remain digital is a declaration that fashion is and will always matter and the French luxury house remains to tell that narrative. A story of bravery, innovation, and timeless classics, Nicolas Ghesquire holds the first physical fashion show in Singapore for the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2021 Spin-Off Collection which includes the debut of his Summer 2021 capsule collection in a full burst of colors.

“It speaks to everyone,” says icon and multimedia superstar Anne Curtis. “That why’s it both timeless and timely,” adds MEGA Editor-In-Chief Peewee Reyes-Isidro. Dressed in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton, both digitally joined the live show in celebration of fashion that gives us the freedom to be authentic in our own ways.

A Story Of Reconnection

The house of Louis Vuitton took on the goliath of keeping safety as the priority during the show. Right at the center of the Art Science Museum in Singapore, masked guests were seated 1 meter apart, while unmasked models from a safe 3 meters away showcased the collection. The “phygiatal” fashion show also combined the magical green screen of Wim Wenders’s Wings of Desire, a romantic fantasy film that ties the exploration of feminity in the S/S’ 21 collection. Not only that, augmenting both virtual and physical elements into the show successfully connected the viewers from the internet to those in the front row of the venue, adding a new depth into how fashion shows should be done even in the post-pandemic era.

THE LV Woman

Far from the usual heavy armor that other brands have released inspired by the current times, Nicolas Ghesquire paved its way to a more evolved and vivid set of looks. In refreshing green and nod to the 80s with bold colors, the S/S 21’ collection in tandem to naturalistic details of their Summer capsule collection provides a breath of fresh air and revives the excitement of dressing up. From the statement graphic tees, boxy silhouettes, and shape-shifting pants, they highlight Ghesquire’s take on gender-neutral clothing that expresses freedom for the modern woman or man.

LV woman herself, Anne Curtis admits she has turned into a fashion chameleon that now dresses how she wants depending on her mood. “A Louis Vuitton woman is confident, bold, free-spirited, adventurous and at the same time, she prefers to find quality. And when it comes to fashion there’s no fast fashion, it’s all about timelessness,” shares Anne. For Peewee Reyes-Isidro she also declares how LV women have always been multi-faceted, “…someone who is versatile, who is experimental, she knows wants she wants and goes for what she wants. She’s also not boxed. She could be feminine and masculine at the same time.”

The New-It Bag

Embedded in the DNA of Louis Vuitton is travel and although travel restrictions remain, Louis Vuitton shows that its savoir-faire craftsmanship remains relevant. Featuring a myriad of new bags, the LV Coussin is the latest must-have. Embracing slouchy and more wearable pieces, the large rectangular-shaped accordion style bag features a monogrammed single chunky chain strap and leather cushion reminiscent of the house’s popular Empreinte leather. You can easily wear it as a cross-body or over the shoulder for everyday wear or detach the chain and make it into a clutch for more formal events.

Another standout is the Rendez-Vous Bag crafted from premium calfskin leather. The neo-classic that looks similar to the diary of Princess Mia in Princess Diaries, the three-compartment bag is protected by a flap and clasp with a Monogram-embroidered jacquard inner body. The finishing touch is the engraved chain and lock that is directly inherited from their iconic trunks.

“When it comes to versatility, they know how to play the game with each piece that is released, it’s highly functional from day to night. Every day you can use it and that’s how amazing and special each piece and collection from Louis Vuitton is,” says Anne.
