As one of the most popular and photographed women of our time, Anne Curtis is no stranger to playing muse to the camera. But the new mom found herself playing muse to 5 talented painters who tried to capture her many different facets, including that of a new mom to daughter Dahlia.
The actress recently flew to the “best island in the world” Boracay and was feted by Crimson Resort & Spa and 5 members of Island Artsits Boracay in collaboration with Anne’s makeup brand BLK Cosmetics. Present at the intimate ceremony were select members of the press and members of Crimson Boracay, including brand new General Manager Patrick Manthe, who happened to be one of the painters to create a rendition of Anne.
“I want to thank each and every one [for the time and effort that you showed me today,]” she stated during the event. “I truly appreciate your efforts; each of these [is now] etched on my mind and my heart. It was lovely to hear
the stories behind each work and the inspiration that made you come up with these beautiful portraits.”
The artists who participated in the event included veteran musician and painter Boy Ignacio; broadcaster and contemporary artist Alan C. Palma; Angono-born arts educator Eric Egualada; Mindoro-born visual artist Japs Avelino; and, as mentioned, Crimson Boracay’s own GM Patrick Manthe. Most of the painters used acrylic and the styles were varied, as they tried to capture Anne’s personality, beauty and recent journey to motherhood. Anne was supposed to choose one, but was so impressed with the works that she ended up choosing two: Avelino’s and Manthe’s paintings are going home with the actress, while the others were signed by her and are up for sale with the proceeds going directly to the local arts community.
The unique event heralded the start of Crimson’s art-centric activities, which will not only give visitors a new sensory experience of the popular island, but also support the artistic community. “Apart from supporting the local artists, my idea is to offer services that are inspired by creativity: ways of showcasing various artistic disciplines such as the visual arts, music, and fashion among others,” shares GM Manthe.
Crimson Resort & Spa in Boracay has opened its doors to domestic tourists, offering safety-enhanced and health-centered service. The resort has played home to a number of celebrities, including Anne Curtis, her family, fellow It Girl Solenn Heusaff and her family, and YouTube sensation Alex Gonzaga. Mask-wearing, social distancing and enhanced cleaning have made Crimson Resort & Spa a popular choice for Boracay tourists taking extra precautions.
