If there’s one thing we learned from Frankie Pangilinan, it’s to speak up. At the young age of 20, she was able to hone a fearlessness that could inspire a nation. She used her voice and popularity to bring attention to topics that were usually seen as taboo to talk about. More than that, Frankie has developed a high sense of self-awareness. She’s able to take a step back and call herself out when she steps out of line. And, that’s an important skill to posses when dealing with politics, social issues, and the internet. People tend to forget that other people’s beliefs and philosophies are neither wrong nor right. All of it is subjective. Thus, one shouldn’t be shamed for speaking up about what they believe in. That’s why Frankie’s opinion should never be silenced or dismissed. It’s simply a truth she believes in– a truth she would like to share to people.
Take it as you will, but we know Frankie isn’t backing down any time soon. Despite the backlash Frankie has received, she has never held back her beliefs and morals. Just take a look at the top five moments this social media star made headlines for standing her ground.

The Ben-Frankie Debate
Now, this was a tough one. Ben Tulfo and Frankie Pangilinan both have a strong and loyal following. The only difference is they have varying beliefs on rape culture. So, what happens when the two go head to head? A social media war between their fans of course. Naturally, Frankie was unafraid, unbothered, and unapologetic.
it is never the clothes, never the drinks — never the victim, period. it is always, ALWAYS, the rapist’s fault. how many more times do we have to hammer this home for it to stick in your thick skulls, please??!??!

Speaking Out About Christine Dacera
In the early hours of New Year’s Day this year, Christine Dacera’s case was opened for investigation. Initially, the tragedy was reported as a rape and homicide case, but later unfolded to be caused by an aortic aneurysm. Frankie actively spoke up about this case. Although as the case progressed, she apologized for sharing misinformation about the persons of interest like a true accountable queen.
Starting The #HijaAko Movement
One of the good things that came out of the Ben-Frankie Debate was the #HijaAko movement. This social media movement was founded by Frankie after she clapped back at Tulfo for calling her hija in a discrediting way. Now, #HijaAko is a nation wide movement that fights against rape culture. Many celebrities and influencers have jumped on board and supported Frankie by posting #HijaAko on their socials.

Criticizing The Government When Needed
Frankie is an active user on Twitter, so when users mention the star on the platform she can see it. For instance, last year she was called out by a user for her tweets criticizing the government. She responds to the user with the tweet, ”If we criticize the president it’s precisely because we do not wish for his failure holy shhhh.”
When She Put The Focus Out Of Her Bikini Pictures
“Hi! Whenever I post a swimsuit pic, it seems to get a little extra attention. I definitely don’t feel comfortable with that when there are so many more important things we should all be discussing,” captions Frankie in an Instagram post of her trip to Boracay. As women, we have all experienced this type of attention in one way or another. When done in the context of social media, it may confuse younger users to display provocative material for the attention of likes. It’s a good thing Frankie was able to redirect the spotlight to what truly matters.
