Pam Quiñones On The Business Of Sustainable Fashion

A prolific personality in the local fashion scene, the MEGA Fashion Awards 2021 Fashion Stylist of the Year is a woman who walks that talk in using fashion to make a change.

Well-versed in the latest trends and fashion history, Pam Quiñones was responsible for breaking the barrier between masculine and feminine style in the early aughts. While most of us were loving denim over denim and bedazzled shirts, she was infusing men’s tailored silhouettes to women’s pieces, one that most modern women wear now. While having established Qurator Studio, a styling firm that nurtures the next generation of stylists, she was also the first in industry to lend a hand during the height of the pandemic. With an initiative called “Fashion for Others,” Quiñones and her team was able to raise funds for and dispatch PPE to frontliners.

But the stylist-turned-businesswoman knows that fashion is beyond the act of looking good. With the clothing industry being one of the biggest polluters in the world, the stylist acknowledged that having a big closet was wasteful.

To start her personal journey towards sustainability, she now practices a minimal lifestyle and founded Vestido, a curated fashion rental with her colleague Cindy Go Bayot to promote circular fashion. Driven by the power garments can give, she tapped into her creativity to change the narrative of fashion and make it accessible and friendlier to the environment. Instead of spending on designer clothing that will only end up in your closet after one wear, with Vestido you can rent it out and return it when you’re done.

For continuing to challenge herself and the industry in reassessing their business models towards purposeful creation, Pam Quiñones is more than deserving to be MEGA’s Fashion Award 2021 (MFA), co-presented by RLC Residences stylist of the year.
