If you’re anything like us, you also couldn’t wait for the FRIENDS Reunion after it was officially announced. After being delayed for a year due to unforeseen circumstances (ahem, COVID-19), the FRIENDS Reunion Special finally premiered on HBO Max on May 27. A truly iconic and cross-generational television series, FRIENDS remains one of the most watched television sitcoms ever—being watched over 100 billion times on all platforms.

After being in a room together only once since the finale which aired in 2004, the original cast—Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc—finally gave all the fans what they’ve been asking for. Truly a special treat for all us fanatics, the FRIENDS Reunion Special brought on laughter, tears, and nostalgia for everyone.

Directed by Ben Winston and hosted by James Corden, here are our favorite moments from the FRIENDS Reunion Special:

The One With The Trivia Quiz

The trivia quiz is back! On the show’s 4th season, Ross creates a quiz to prove who knows who better—the boys (Chandler and Joey) or the girls (Rachel and Monica). Well, recreating that scene (even the coin toss!), David Schwimmer once again tests his friends with trivia questions about the show. Questions included questions about Rachel’s letter to Ross, the name of their downstairs neighbor, and the true mystery of the whole show: Chandler Bing’s job.

The One With Joey’s Identical Hand Twin

Remember when Joey found his hand twin in Las Vegas and thought he could make a fortune out of it? Well, as a part of the trivia quiz, Matt LeBlanc was tested to see whether or not he can still recognize his hand twin almost two decades later. Surprisingly, he still does, and Thomas Lennon, Joey’s hand twin on the show, also made an appearance.

The One With The Fashion Show

One of our favorite things about FRIENDS was their fashionable outfits throughout the whole series. However, this fashion show was not quite like any other. Celebrities Cara Delevigne , Justin Bieber, and Cindy Crawford joined in on the fun, donning iconic outfits from Rachel Green’s bright pink dress for her ex-fiancee’s wedding to Ross’ spud-nik halloween costume to his iconic leather pants, the fashion show showcased funny and unforgettable moments throughout the sitcom’s 10 seasons. What stole the show, however, was when Matt LeBlanc also strutted the runway, once again wearing all of Chandler’s clothes.

The One With The Table Read

Taking us all back, all six actors sat down to do a table read of their old scripts. One of which was the episode “The One Where Everyone Finds Out,” where Lisa Kudrow reenacts the iconic moment when Phoebe saw Chandler and Monica through the window. Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer also gave us the feels, reading the script from “The One Where Ross Finds Out,” the episode where Ross and Rachel share their first kiss. Still as funny as it was back then, it’s not difficult to see why Gen Z are also hooked on FRIENDS.

The One With The “Oh. My. God!”

If you’re a true FRIENDS fan, then you know who Janice is. Though there was no shortage of special guests during the reunion, the surprise appearance of Maggie Wheeler, who played Janice, was truly a treat. From her iconic “Oh. My. God!” to her very infectious laughter, Janice was a character that left a mark with the viewers. Elliot Gould and Christina Pickles, who played Mr. and Mrs. Geller were also present. James Michael Tyler, the actor who played Gunther, also made an appearance via Zoom.

The One With The Smelly Cat

“Smelly cat, smelly cat, what are they feeding you?” Throughout the whole 10 seasons of FRIENDS, Phoebe Buffay was shown to play guitar and write very unique songs about random things. However, no song is quite as iconic as “Smelly Cat”. During the reunion, Lisa Kudrow, aka Phoebe, sang Smelly Cat alongside award winning singer Lady Gaga, and a church choir.

The One With The Sit Down Interview

As a part of the reunion, James Corden got to sit down and interview the cast in front of the iconic water fountain—and boy, were there surprising revelations! David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston admitted that they both had a huge crush on each other during the first season, but never got together because of bad timing. It’s also during this interview where we have confirmed that yes, Ross and Rachel WERE on a break.

No one told us life was gonna be this way, but it’s good to know that no matter what happens, FRIENDS will be there for us.
