With the Commission on Elections (Comelec) surpassing its 4M target of newly-registered voters, they are now aiming for 60 million voters for the 2022 polls.

“So far we have around 4.3 million new voters who have already registered which means we have already exceeded the expectations we set out with back in 2019,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez has announced. Despite expressing their fears earlier this year of not reaching their target quota of newly registered voters before the September deadline, Comelec is now expecting a surge beyond the 4M within the last three months of registration.

“Last week, we have 60 million registered voters in our list of voters. Meaning to say, come 2022 we will have at least 60 million voters who will potentially be going to the polling centers on Election Day.” he added during the online forum.
The poll body is committed to making this increase happen by putting up several satellite registration offices before the voter registration ends on September 30.

Applicants are advised to head first to comelec.gov.ph and fill out the necessary forms and book their biometrics appointment online. Submission of applications are then done at the Office of the Election Officer of the city or municipality where the applicant resides, Mondays to Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For Android users in selected areas outside Metro Manila, the COMELEC Mobile App is available for registration. The QR code generated after then needs to be presented to the applicant’s local Comelec office for validation.
