With a fashion style that’s sultry but effortless, hair that’s tousled but never over-styled, a base that is au natural but the lips always in a shade of red—makeup artist and contact creator Violett Serrat has been helping people master the art of the French je ne sai quoi for years. After serving as creative director for prestigious beauty names and even launching her own beauty brand, Violette_FR, it was only a perfect match that she’s now joining the team of one of the oldest French beauty houses. Succeeding the formidable Olivier Echaudemaison, Serratt now takes on the role of Guerlain’s Creative Director for Makeup, a move that is sure to push the storied luxury brand to the new world.

“I’m so happy to be joining an iconic House with such a rich heritage, where I can pass Guerlain’s values in makeup on to a new generation and share it with those who, no matter their gender, celebrate beauty today and will celebrate it tomorrow,” Serrat says.

Racking up a loyal community of 400k followers that has gained her over 24 million views on her YouTube channel, Seratt has the experience and Parisian sensibilities to understand the contemporary beauty that customers of today demand. Just take a look at her personal looks where she’s unafraid to mix the pillars of French beauty such as smoky eyes or and retro liners with electric blue shadows or glitter lips.

“That’s what I also want to bring, as French people we have this really strong aesthetic that we’ve had for so many years and I think that’s what people are able to identify with. Of course, that’s gorgeous and I love it, but I also want for Guerlain and I to inspire new iconic looks,” she shares in the exclusive interview.

Together, Guerlain and Violette Serrat are redefining the look of the modern French It-Girl.

Guerlain is available at Rustan’s and Greenbelt 5.
