With the news that Bea Alonzo has officially switched networks from ABS-CBN to GMA-7, social media has been ablaze with sentiments for the actress – but they aren’t all good.

One of the points of concern for critics is her supposed ABS-CBN teleserye Kahit Minsan Lang, which was dropped before she broke the news on her network transfer. Though there are no recent developments on the projects just yet, here’s what we know about the shelved series.

What is Kahit Minsan Lang about?

Bea first teased that she was starting a new series in September of 2019, two years after her last series A Love to Last with Ian Veneracion. Various initial teasers for Kahit Minsan Lang sees Bea leading the series opposite Richard Gutierrez as the lone sister and outcast of a family full of men. She is also shown rocking a pixie cut wig for the role.

The actress was set to star alongside Rafael Rosell, Richard Gutierrez, Christian Bables, and Jameson Blake, among others.

What happened?

The show was canceled as early as September of 2020, with ABS-CBN’s television production unit Star Creatives citing “restrictive scenarios of shooting” as Bea’s reason for discontinuing the project.

“The nature of the material developed for Bea Alonzo cannot be accommodated at present because of the restrictive scenarios of shooting,” Star Creatives shared in an official statement.

“Nonetheless, Star Creatives said it is looking forward to working with Alonzo again in the future.”

Who’s set to replace Bea?

With the show already starting initial shootings, Bea’s replacement is still up in the air for now. Fellow actress Maja Salvador revealed that she was approached for the role after Bea’s departure, but she refused to focus on Crown Artist Management Inc., her own talent agency.

With Kahit Minsan Lang recently trending on social media, Julia Montes has been the fan-favorite to portray the role

Meanwhile, amid the criticism against Bea, Karen Davila made sound points on Bea’s decision to leave her home network after 20 years.

“Let us be slow in casting judgment over a person’s decision to leave. Hindi po natin alam ang buong kuwento,” the veteran journalist shared via Twitter.

“Lahat naman po tayo kailangang magtrabaho. Maliit po ang industriya. Bilog po ang mundo. Magkikita kita rin tayo.”
