Former Miss Universe Philippines 2020 finalist, Alaiza Malinao surprised her supporters with a great news through a photo shoot with Jerick Sanchez
Last Saturday, August 28, former Asia’s Next Top Model participant and one of the Top 16 finalists in the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 announced her pregnancy through a maternity photo taken by photographer Jerick Sanchez.
She said in her post that it took her days of pondering on the right words to say for her big announcement, and said that 2020 was indeed crazy, but to sum it up, our Inday is going to be a mom. She said in her caption, “I cried, I grieved, I celebrated and above all, sobrang laki ng pasasalamat ko sa suporta at pagmamahal na binigay nyo sa akin. Yun ang isa sa pinakamalaking surprise ng taong 2020 para sa akin.”
(@alaizamalinao)She also expressed her gratitude to the universe, that even if there was a huge shift in her plans, there are always good and unexpected things in store for her. She said that it’s true that in every pageant night, a candidate’s life will never be the same. That night her dream died because of losing the crown, but as the saying goes, “We have to lose something precious in order to gain something priceless.”
The meaning behind the terno
Apart from her heartwarming pregnancy announcement, her photo garnered as much love because of how tranquil and fabulous she looks in her minimalist white terno gown. In her post, she thanked Jo Rubio for the terno he created, and Jerick Sanchez for taking the photo.
According to Jerick Sanchez when asked about the concept of the shoot, it was revealed that there was a special meaning on why Malinao wore a terno. He said, “Actually wala siyang concept kasi biglaang shoot lang siya, but Alaiza thought of wearing her MU evening gown terno to show that she moved on sa pageants and [is] proud of being an expecting mom.”
Her Miss Universe Philippines 2020 batchmate Rabiya Mateo and some of this year’s Miss U PH delegates like Maureen Wroblewitz and Christelle Abello also sent their love and congratulatory messages to the soon to be first-time mom.
