Here’s What The Nas Academy Celebrity Teachers Have Said So Far

The Nas Academy issue has gone through a lot of twists and turns to get to where it is now.

Starting from a Facebook post from Kalinga tattoist Whang-Od’s niece claiming that the 104-year-old did not give consent for the ‘Whang Od Academy’ masterclass, social media has since been in a flurry of “he said, she said” statements diverting away from the issue.

In recent developments, Nas Academy has halted operations in the country in order to rectify the issue and work with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).

Now, a few original Nas Academy celebrity speakers are coming forward with their own statements amid the chaos.

Catriona Gray

The 2018 Miss Universe spoke out through her talent agency, Cornerstone Entertainment. In the statement released via social media, they shared that Catriona, Cornerstone, and NAS Academy have “agreed to stop accepting new applications” until the issue has been fully resolved.

“NAS Academy is currently comitted to working with the NCIP to make sure all proper processes are followed. Cornerstone will continue to monitor the progress of this incident,” they said.

Catriona was set to teach a course on “How To Become A Queen.”

Jessica Soho

The celebrated journalist chose to speak out via Facebook through the Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho page.

They shared that: “In light of recent events, and after our team’s series of communications with Nas Academy, we decided and mutually agreed not to pursue the Jessica Soho course.”

“Nas Academy has informed us that they are working with the NCIP. We hope for the resolution of all issues raised.”

Soho was set to teach about broadcast journalism.

Vanjo Merano

Merano, or most known under his online foodie persona Panlasang Pinoy, took to his personal Facebook account to give a direct stand against the initaitive.

“PP (Panlasang Pinoy) Academy was in the works under the Nas Academy platform, but I decided not to pursue in support to Apo and the exploited Pinoy hospitality 🇵🇭!!! #icandoitonmyownanyway,” he shared. He then reposted the status on his professional page and has since garnered over 50,000 reactions.

This is a developing story.
