It’s no secret that being a Miss Universe queen is a big duty.
With the excitement over the 2021 Miss Universe pageant well underway, we all know the dedication, commitment, and training it takes to represent the country in the category of beauty and brains.
Past queens have gone on to act after their pageant stints, but showbiz can also serve as the training grounds for aspiring queens. With their camera-ready looks and poised interview skills, check out the celebrities who’ve expressed interest in becoming Miss Universe queens!
Gabbi Garcia
This 22-year-old stunner hasn’t been one to shy away from expressing her intent to become an international beauty queen in the future.
She had been joining pageant ever since she was young, as she bagged the crown during the Miss Skin White 2011 and as Miss Solane 2013.
Standing at 5’6, Gabbi also praised Wynwin Marquez for her 2017 Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas queen and shared: “It’s been a childhood dream of mine [to join the paegant] and I’m not closing my doors at all. I really want to explore that aspect of my career.”
Most recently, the star shared in a recent TikTok video that she was just “waiting for the right time” to join Miss Universe.
Sanya Lopez
It’s not every day that Pia Wurtzbach encourages you to be a beauty queen, but the 2015 Miss Universe saw the potential early on for GMA artist Sanya Lopez.
In a 2018 message to the actress, Pia shared that she had been following Sanya on social media and offered to train the then 22-year-old.
“Super ganda mo, and whenever you’re ready we’re here waiting for you,” Pia said. “Kung gusto mo mag-train, kung gusto mo sumali, alam mo na kung sinong lalapitan mo… we’d be happy, happy, happy to help you.”
Sanya couldn’t help but gush over the interaction, but also explained that her projects with her home network would interfere with the schedule.
“I also want to explore being a beauty queen but as of now, I have lots of good projects with GMA Network so it’s hard to leave it. When I get lucky, of course, if that’s really where I’m headed, let us see,” Sanya said.
Meanwhile, former queens Maxine Medina and Samantha Bernardo have also encouraged the star to start training to become a beauty queen, so maybe we’ll get to see her on the runway in the coming years!
Kira Balinger
This newly-minted actress may be young, but she’s already got her eyes on the crown. The Kapamilya star has expressed her intent to be a beauty queen on numerous occasions but knows that it will take time before she’s ready.
“I think that’s when I feel I will be ready to join,” she had shared in 2020. “Siyempre, nakaka-pressure din ang beauty pageants. It’s a big platform where makikita lahat ng advocacies, how you can help, so I really need to be prepared for that type of responsibility.”
She also posted a photo with Catriona Gray with the caption: “How amazing it feels to meet one of your inspirations in life!! I hope someday I could be like her!”
Kisses Delavin
Manifested! Like the others, this Masbate beauty has been open about her plans to nab the Miss Universe crown for years.
Kisses started her pageant journey at a very young age, as she nabbed the Miss Teen Campus and as Miss Alma Mater when she was just a teenager. She had also been a consistent winner in Masbate, winning the Miss Teen Masbate in 2013, and 2016 Miss Masbate three years later.
The former PBB housemate has also been confident in her Miss Universe reign, sharing that: “I know that this is something I will always do. Ever since I was a little kid, I just know that this job is for me.”
True enough, Kisses is now one of the Top 30 Miss Universe Philippines contestants vying for the coveted crown this September 25. She’s also been a fan favorite and won the online headshot and video greeting challenge of the competition.
The Miss Universe Philippines 2021 coronation night will be joined by the Top 30 contestants this September 25. Whoever wins the MUP will represent the Philippines in the 2021 Miss Universe this December in Israel.
