This new series of MEGA People featuring the delegates of Miss Universe Philippines will give you an exclusive look on what it takes to be a queen
Philippines is known to be the home of many beauty queens. Our country has a long standing love and history in the world of pageants, and just like in sports, the whole country, especially the pageant aficionados, closely watch the event just to cheer and support their beauty queen bets in the world stage like the Miss Universe.
Since Venus Raj‘s 4th runner-up finish at Miss Universe 2010, the Philippines’ first semifinal placement at the pageant since Miriam Quiambao‘s 2nd placement in Miss Universe 1999, the country has consistently placed in the Miss Universe semifinals each year, and historically acquired two more Miss Universe crowns in 2015 with Pia Wurtzbach and 2018 with Catriona Gray following Gloria Romero and Margie Moran. This feat made the Philippines the fifth country in the world to place in the Miss Universe semi finals for at least 10 consecutive years.
The charm of Miss Universe and what it stands for has changed throughout the years, and now in recent history, the franchise has become an event to celebrate the beauty, heart, and intelligence of women all over the world, and MEGA is not only a witness of that change but had always been the platform in delivering news and stories of this prestigious pageant, and its candidates as well. Recently, MEGA followed the Miss Universe journey of Rabiya Mateo from her training, her fashion evolution, and right up to her moment in the 69th Miss Universe that was held on May 16, 2021 at Florida, United States.
