“On The Job: The Missing 8” Is The Only Asian Film Selected In The Venice Film Festival

Erik Matti’s On The Job: The Missing 8, is set to make a world premiere at the 78th Venice Film Festival

Erik Matti’s award-winning crime thriller masterpiece, On The Job‘s second installment, On The Job: The Missing 8, is set to have its world premiere soon, on the 78th Venice Film Festival in Italy this September 10. According to Matti, the real-life corruption that inspired his Venice Film Fest entry might be the “angriest” film he’s ever made.

This time around the sequel will center around a corrupt media man, played by John Arcilla, who seeks for justice for the disappearance of his colleagues, crosses paths with an inmate-hitman, played by Dennis Trillo. The film also stars Dante Rivero, Christopher De Leon, Lotlot De Leon, Leo Martinez, Joey Marquez, Eric Fructuoso, Vandolph Quizon, Agot Isidro, Sol Cruz, Wendell Ramos, Lao Rodriguez, Andrea Brillantes, Isabelle De Leon, Megan Young, Levi Ignacio, and Carlitos Sigueon-Reyna.

The film was said to be the only Asian film selected for the prestigious festival and will compete for the “Golden Lion”, the highest award in the Venezia 78 Competition, and will be up against 20 other entries including films with star-studded movies in Hollywood like Spencer starring Kirsten Stewart, The Lost Daughter starring Olivia Colman, and The Power of The Dog starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Aside from this huge achievement, it was also reported earlier that the On The Job‘s first and second installment will be premiering exclusively in HBO GO as a

six-part HBO Asia Original series on September 12.
