Juvenal Sansó is a globally known Spanish-born Filipino-raised artist. During his earlier years, he dabbled in fashion as a textile designer while studying at École Nationale des Beaux Artes in Paris in the 1960s. Later in his life, Sansó moved on from textiles and created the surreal landscapes he is best known for. Meanwhile, in the Philippines (and many years later), Robbie Santos is a distinguished local designer who spent long years in the academe before finally pursuing his passion for fashion.

In many ways, there are similarities between the two creatives that make the Sansó Textile Designs x Septième Rebelle all the more meaningful. Despite being separated by half a century and belonging to different generations, their experiences are similar: both artists took a step away from their respective chosen mediums to see how one another’s medium could fuel one’s creative pursuits.

“He was still new as an artist. I feel a certain level of parallelism with Sansó in a way that I’m also starting my life as a fashion designer—sixty years later,” Santos said. “I think there is a connection between what he made and what I am making for the collaboration.”

Now, we can all experience life imitating art and fashion by visiting Galerie Joaquin at One Bonifacio High Street Mall in BGC. Everyone is welcome to peruse around the exhibit, which showcases the work of both Santos and Sansó. You’ll be able to find a wonderful array of bespoke clothing with the signature Sansó print on them. Both creatives wish that the designs, which stand out for their vibrant prints, colors, shapes, and patterns, would positively shift the mood and enrich the souls of spectators and eventual owners of his avant-garde, made-to-order pieces.

Aside from this, you can even purchase trinkets from Fundacion Sansó by the counter as a gift for your loved ones this holiday season.
