The concept of purposeful shopping has been around for a while now. We’ve seen many brands dive in to various types of campaigns and business models that offer an opportunity to do good by so many in need. Before the pandemic started, these campaigns and models were interpreted by the market in different ways. Many were avid supporters, while others were not able to full grasp the concept yet. During the pandemic, the concept of purposeful shopping has once again picked up in the world of fashion.

Only this time around, it’s coming in exactly when we need it. Now more than ever, people are willing to help and so are the brands. They’re looking towards supporting labels that provide more than just the season’s latest. In the past few months, three brands have been paving the way for purposeful shopping in the Philippines. Each brand advocates for a different cause. Find out what they are by reading on.

Patton
Advocacy: Education for all

Patty Ang’s line of essential wear, Patton, has recently introduced their newest initiative with the Department of Education. The campaign is titled, Resilience. Their permanent collection features elevated basics, which includes crew neck sweatshirts and shorts. Additionally, the pieces are considered as elevated loungewear made to be lived in throughout the seasons. All the profit made from the Resilience collection will be donated to the Department of Education for their MovEd foundation. Currently, they advocate and provide quality early childhood education
for underserved communities.

H&M
Advocacy: Sustainability in fashion

One clothing company who knows how to do sustainable fashion correctly is definitely H&M. The retail powerhouse has made an evident stand on sustainability from the get-go. They have created multiple campaigns before the pandemic that has reduced their carbon foot print on the planet. More so, the brand has continued to make strides in the world of sustainability. For their Spring 2021 collection, they have made it a point to use sustainable materials to create their newest line of garments. To make things more official, H&M Conscious Exclusive A/W ’20, Agraloop Biofibre™ has now been scaled up to their main collections, which means more of their items are created through sustainable practices.

The New Mood
Advocacy: Support local designers

After the success of their previous collections, Rebirth and Celebration, The New Mood has gone back to the drawing board for Spring-Summer 2021. On the 25th of July last year, they introduced to us SHELTER from the Storm and Stress, their newest and most innovative collection yet. The New Mood’s latest set of daily essential wear was produced by a number of highly acclaimed local designers, namely: Ivarluski Aseron, Jaggy Glarino, Dennis Lustico, and Lulu Tan-Gan.
