It was one that no one saw coming as the market was filled with spicy and oriental fragrances, giving the brand its own edge by capturing the sensation of a subtle yet powerful water drop on a woman’s skin. Unlike any other, L’Eau d’Issey was the essence of a floral bouquet with honeyed rose and lotus while being wrapped around a thin sheet of water with its marine notes.
A couple of years later, Issey Miyake released what is considered to be the masculine alter ego of its first bottle. L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme took an unexpected turn away from the subtlety of its older sibling by transforming into a loud waterfall situated by the sea with its iodine and ozonic notes. But even with the mineral freshness and ocean breeze-like scent caused by synthetic molecule Calone, L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme still has that hint of a vegetal quality that is reminiscent of coriander.
