‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ spin off will center on Lara Jean’s youngest sister, Kitty
It was in February early this year that we said our goodbyes to our beloved Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky in Always and Forever, the last installment of To All The Boys series. However, it looks like the story isn’t completely over as there’s one last letter yet to be opened—except it’s not Lara Jean’s, but her sister Kitty’s.
This morning, the To All The Boys official social media accounts uploaded a special email from Kitty as she announced that her own love story is just about to unfold. Lara and Peter’s matchmaker may act as if she knows everything there is about love, but her “love wisdom” will be tested as the crown will now be passed on to her head as the new protagonist.
Fans are already looking forward to this as early as now, so here are all the details we should know about this upcoming spin off.
XO, Kitty
Netflix announced that it has picked up a 10-episode young adult series focusing on Kitty, Lara Jean’s younger sister.
Anna Cathcart will reprise her role as Kitty, who you may recall, met a boy during a family trip to Korea in To All The Boys: Always and Forever.Titled XO, Kitty, the half-hour drama-comedy will be based on the love letter film franchise as well as Jenny Han’s book series. Han and Sascha Rothchild, whose credits include Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club and GLOW, are set to serve as co-showrunners. Netflix hasn’t announced a release date, but Cathcart narrated a short instagram clip telling fans to stay tuned.
A love made in Korea
Honest question, is this the same guy they’re talking about?
In the film, Kitty immediately hit it off with a boy from Korea named Dae, who took the Covey family’s photo near the love locks on the fence at Namsan Tower.
When the family returned to Virginia, Kitty asked Peter for advice on what to text Dae (Jeon Ho Young), because she never had a crush on a boy before. Later in the movie, she said that she was breaking up with Dae because he hated “Harry Potter” and called it “so dumb.”
According to the show’s logline, “when she moves halfway across the world to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend, she’ll soon realize that relationships are a lot more complicated when it’s your own heart on the line.” If Dae is still Kitty’s love interest, we could assume that the two will continue what they had started in the third movie.
