The Island is back, basketball courts are opening up, and Manila is (kind of) going back to normal. These are 5 things you can do during GCQ.

If you think of things in a positive light, it may be safe to say we’re just inches away from going back to normal. Don’t get us wrong, we’ve still got a long way to go until we reach herd immunity. But, that doesn’t mean things aren’t looking up. According to Our World In Data, the Philippines now has 24.3 million fully vaccinated individuals and 52.3 million doses given in a span of a few months.
Because of all this progress, the government has placed the National Capital Region to Alert Level 3. This means that a few restrictions have been lifted, a few industries are back in business, and the economy can once again start moving. We still have a 12:00 midnight to 4:00 am curfew and we still need to practice safety precaution measures, but hey, we’ll take what we can get.
One of the biggest signifiers that things might be going back to normal is the reopening of The Island. The whole complex was dedicated to multiple party venues, such as: Xylo, Yes Please, Revel at the Palace, and so much more. Now, some of the venues have converted into a dine-in setup. One of them is The Island, a popular nightspot for many partygoers. We’re not exactly partying yet, but if you miss your old haunt, give them a call. The restaurant is offering signature dishes and operating at 30% capacity. This is just one of the things you can do again. Find out the others by reading on.
#1: Play Outdoor And Indoor Sports
Your partners would get a load of this. Basketball courts, football fields, golf courses, and gyms are back in business. There may be some cities that still don’t allow them, but there are others that let players take the field at 30% capacity.
#2: Have A Night Out With Friends
Did you hear? The Island is back! Time to reminisce all those pre-pandemic memories. While practicing social distancing and safety precautions, you can even order drinks at your favorite restaurant. Just remember, you got to start early ‘cause curfew starts at midnight.
#3: Get Pampered In The Salon
Waxing? Yes! Haircuts and hair color? Yes and yes. Facials? Definitely! Time to schedule an appointment with your dermatologist and your waxing salon. It’s about time to get pampered.
#4: Go On An Out Of Town Vacation
Vaccinated travelers are in for a treat! You can now travel without having to go through facility-based quarantine. That means you can visit your favorite low risk travel destinations. Many vaccinated tourists have visited Boracay, La Union, Siargao, and many other tourist spots in the Philippines.
#5: (Maybe) Go To The Movies
Cinemas are back in business! With that being said, it won’t exactly be the same as you remembered it. First off, you have to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Secondly, you can’t bring food in. But, if you’re a big movie buff, then we’re sure that’s no problem for you.
